Speckled Wood, a small British outfit near the city of Bath, specializes in wood-based designs of various items, from magnets to brooches. Its free website is as inviting as it is efficient, allowing visitors to get intimately acquainted with the items sold either in the shop or online. Its homepage is clean-cut and clear, displaying navigation links n a full-width toolbar along the top, with clear, highly visible Facebook and Twitter buttons in the bottom half of the page. Three content pages are given emphasis through large image teasers and short textual explanations – News and Events, Follow Us and About Us. The Shop page features an easy-to-update, thumbnail grid-styled portfolio with linkable images, with each item opening to reveal full product details, more images and an “Add to Cart” button. Once an item is added to the shopping cart, visitors can read all about the shop’s payment and shipping policies, as well as refunds and exchanges. The Gallery page displays items that are not sold online, using the same tasteful grid-styled portfolio display.
