Whether youre a multi-national corporation or a freelancer working from home, optimizing your exposure on Facebook is about to get a whole lot simpler.
A brand new Facebook application allows Wix users with Facebook Fan pages to have total control over the look and feel of ones Facebook presence. Next to you or your business Fan page Wall and Info tabs, sits your My Site tab, with a fully functional and interactive version of your website.
A demo can be viewed on the applications own Fan Page, WixYourPage. Click the My Site tab to see an example.
Heres how it works: a user will create a Facebook-friendly version of their Wix website that fits Facebooks page width. Wix is already producing templates specifically for this purpose. The same drag & drop interface used to make a website will be used to tweak the design of the Facebook versions. A new publish flow will allow users to quickly embed their sites to Facebook, with minimal interruption of the user-experience.
Wix Product & Project Manager of the Facebook app, Ido Rabiner, comments, The implications of this are nothing short of revolutionary. It allows users to take full advantage of the benefits already offered by Facebook as a powerful promotional resource for business owners.
This in your face approach is exactly what Facebook marketing is about: targeted promotion to ones audience that integrates with the natural online experience. It also combines Wix approach to allow the average online user to create highly customized web design to suit ones individual needs.
Rabiner says, We are bringing the uniqueness of Wix to the largest social network keeping all our features and advantages available to all.
The new application will increase exposure to ones online community, with significantly more branding opportunities and an enhancement of current design options. The Facebook version of ones site will perfectly replicate the regular version, with all functionality of a regular website. Music, galleries, video and more will be supported by the new application.
Wix Pros, who are members of the Wix Arena, were tipped off earlier this week in forums and are chomping at the bit to get their hands on the new app.
Oh man that is unreal. It is literally a website in Facebook. Could you ask for better exposure? wrote one user in a thread that leaked the release.
This will set standards for web design, said another.
