A large segment of Wix users are small business owners who use the free website builder to easily set up online shops. Users can create a website and add a shopping cart, product galleries and checkout buttons through a simple drag & drop process, free of the need to manually enter any code. Entrepreneurs, home offices, charity organizations and other niche sites are built with Wix’s tools and design elements.
A sleek “Add to Cart” button is now available, which users can place on any page inside their site and link it to a shopping cart on a separate page. This lets an online shop advertise products directly from the homepage, without compromising its design.
For example, the Kozo Lamp Shop made use of the new “Add to Cart” button, attracting attention from visitors by featuring the button on the top right corner of the homepage. This powerful element signals to visitors immediately that this is an online shop where products can be purchased, in a way that is aesthetically consistent with the site’s minimalist design.
In addition to the “Add to Cart” feature, a fresh collection of eCommerce icons is also available for users to customize their sales pages. New shopping cart icons, currency symbols, and even little graphic wallets and purses are found inside the builder, in a variety of styles and themes. These elements enable users to have their sales pages remain consistent with the look and feel of their overall website, and brand.
More eCommerce product developments are in the works, to be released one by one over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth integration. Users will find options for improved shopping carts, dedicated product pages, inventory and shipping control, coupon features and more in future versions of the Wix editor.
